What the Delay Llama XTREME Does
The Delay Llama XTREME builds on our beloved analog Delay Llama series—featuring three MN3205 BBD chips for up to 800 ms of warm, fully analog delay—while adding four “XTREME” trail‑effects modes that push creative boundaries: Vibrato, Tape‑Age, Random, and Pitch‑Shift. It also includes 4 onboard presets, tap tempo (with subdivision options), a hold function, kill‑dry, buffered or true‑bypass switching, and external inputs for expression/CV, remote tap‑tempo, and preset switching .
-
Vibrato adds a lush sine‑wave LFO to your repeats, adjustable via Alt‑L/FKnob and Alt‑R for depth and speed .
-
Tape‑Age emulates vintage tape echo’s slight pitch warbles—control the rate of these pitch drifts .
-
Random chaos mode subtly (or wildly) shifts delay time for abrupt pitch and rhythm variations—great for experimental drones or percussive textures .
-
Pitch‑Shift offers 5 musical interval settings and 5 playback patterns (including a 5‑step sequencer)—transform melodies into evolving, harmonized textures .
This pedal merges the organic warmth of analog delay with surprisingly deep modulation and pitch tools—easy to use but rich in sonic potential, whether you’re crafting ambient soundscapes, rhythmic textures, or lush melodic phrases ().
About the “Achenbach Series”:
John Achenbach is a Storyboard Artist and Animation Professional with a long history on the legendary show “The Simpsons” and a guitarist/musician. The “Achenbach Series” is the result of a loving friendship that has developed through the years out of mutual respect for what each of us does!
Here’s a little insider’s look into his process for coming up with his designs, using the “Achenbach Series” Tubedreamer as an example:
“You just can’t beat nature. For inspiration, I researched the first amplifier tubes to design a JAM pedals character and found this Fleming tube from 1904. Then a friend recently posted a real pic of a virus under an electron microscope. Damn.. that’s freaky.” John Achenbach
