What the Red Muck Does

We designed the Red Muck to growl like the classic ’71 “triangle” Muff and the later Red Army/Civil War versions, but with even more grit and sustain.

  • Wide saturation range: from lyrical, vintage sustain to massive stoner-fuzz walls

  • Boost footswitch: engages a dedicated section tuned to fatten fuzz/distortion—when Gain is set low, it becomes a high-gain stage

  • 2-way toggle switch: flips between symmetrical (Red Muck mk 1 style) and asymmetrical “+” clipping

Our goal was to give you both classic Muff tones and a modern wall-of-sound fuzz powerhouse, with on-board boost and clipping flexibility to cover all bases.

About the “Achenbach Series”:

John Achenbach is a Storyboard Artist and Animation Professional with a long history on the legendary show “The Simpsons” and a guitarist/musician. The “Achenbach Series” is the result of a loving friendship that has developed through the years out of mutual respect for what each of us does!

Here’s a short video of him talking about the story behind our collaboration:

Here’s a little insider’s look into his process for coming up with his designs, using the “Achenbach Series” Tubedreamer as an example:

“You just can’t beat nature. For inspiration, I researched the first amplifier tubes to design a JAM pedals character and found this Fleming tube from 1904. Then a friend recently posted a real pic of a virus under an electron microscope. Damn.. that’s freaky.” John Achenbach
